Roxie Ramsey Obituary

Mrs. Roxie Denzel Haynes Ramsey died peacefully, at age 91, on Friday, June 12, 2009, at Kendal Nursing Home, in Lexington, Va. Mrs. Ramsey was born in Martinsville, Va. on January 13, 1918. In 1942, she moved to Hampton, Va. where she resided for 67 years. She was active in the Colonial Place Church of Christ, where she taught the preschool Sunday School class for 25 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Vincent Ramsey; two daughters, Shirley Stolarz and husband, Bob, of Fairfield, Va., and Gale Burns, of Winston-Salem, N.C. Also surviving are two brothers, Clifton Haynes and Gordon Haynes, both of Martinsville, Va. She will be greatly missed by her four loving grandchildren, Michelle Field and husband, Richard, Michael Stolarz and wife, Mary Curtis, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Michael, and Corinne Burns; also, five greatgrandchildren, Justin, Hannah and Caitlyn Field, and Mead and Turner Stolarz. A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Va., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Ramsey and Family,
Please know that we here at Kendal are thinking of you and praying for you. I did not know her all that long , but I miss her greatly. She will always live in my heart and memories. She was my sunshine.
