Elaine Shortt Maynor

Elaine Shortt Maynor, 52, of Bedford, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, July 25, 1956, in Roanoke, a daughter of Harold Shortt and Eveleen Snead Shortt, of Bedford, who survive. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Pluma Shortt and her maternal grandparents, Mack and Rose Snead. She was a Customer Service Secretary at Singer Furniture Company. Elaine fought a valiant fight against diabetes all her life, but remained cheerful and friendly to others. She loved to crochet, enjoyed home decorating and was a wonderful homemaker. In addition to her father and mother, she is survived by her husband, Billy Maynor; a stepson, Scott Maynor, of Daleville; two grandchildren, Andrew Maynor and Matthew Maynor, both of Daleville; two brothers, Timothy Shortt, of Bedford, Bruce Shortt, of Ferrum; special friends, Teresa Roberts, Mrs. Wheat and Frances Logwood. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
