Fred George Obituary

On Friday, June 12, 2009, after surviving ALS for five years, Fred W. George, 59, beloved husband of Susan Garland George. Proud father of Julie, Michael and Holly George. Son of the late Edwin E. and Gladys Pugh George (Roanoke, Va.) Fred was a 1972 graduate of Virginia Tech, where he served as President of his graduating class. He graduated Georgetown University Law Center with a Juris Doctorate in 1976, where he was the Executive Editor of the American Criminal Law Review. He earned his Masters of Law in Taxation there in 1978. Fred was a partner at Eckert Seamans until his retirement in 2006. Fred was a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2007. He also was a former president of the Pittsburgh Tax Club, a former president of the Allegheny Tax Society, and a former president of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh. Fred was a member of Oakmont Country Club and an active member of the Weakenders for many years. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, Pittsburgh, Pa. (412-621-1665) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday. Funeral Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Homewood Cemetery Chapel. Interment private.
