Harry Leonard Angle

Harry Leonard Angle, 86, of Boones Mill, died Saturday, June 20, 2009. He was a longtime and active member of Boones Mill United Methodist Church, serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board, singing in the choir and male quartet. Harry was also a former member of the Boones Mill Lions Club and Isaac's Lodge #29 A.F. & A. M. until his illness would not allow him to be active. He retired from Whiting Oil Company in 1989 with more than 40 years of dedicated service and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was born July 17, 1922, a son of the late Peter Marvin and Effie Bowles Angle, and was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Oden and Evelyn, Ruthford (R.B.) and Raeburn, Lynwood "Sonny" Angle; special nephew, Gary Angle. Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maxine T. Angle; son and daughter-in-law, Michael T. and Selina Angle; daughter and son-in-law, Matilda ("Tillie") and Victor Conner; one special granddaughter ("little Emi") which was the joy of his life, Emilee Reecie Conner (whom she called Papa); sister-in-law, Etheleene Angle; brothers-in-law, Zane and Edna Turner, Norwood and Esther Turner; a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 with the Rev. Robert Garner and the Rev. A. Benjamin Chidester officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boones Mill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 288, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065.
