Merlene Page Obituary

Merlene Anderson Page, of Christiansburg, Va., went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, June 18, 2009. She was born in Floyd, Va., and was the daughter of the late John Clifford Anderson and Winnie Whitlock Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janice PageBrewster; brother, Walter Anderson; and sister, Katherine A. Shelor. Merlene graduated from Christiansburg High School and attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. She was a former X-ray and laboratory technician for the Radford Arsenal. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross throughout her life. Merlene was a wonderful wife to Wilbert, mother to Janice, sister and daughter to her family. She loved them, and they loved her. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and loved her Lord greatly. Her family will miss her deeply and look forward to their reunion in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wilbert Page; her five sisters, Bula Shelbourne, of Richmond, Va., Mary Ruth Cruce, of Christiansburg, Va., Blanch Workman, of Virginia Beach, Va., Margie Boschert, of Linthicum Heights, Md., and Barbara Anderson, of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Betty Page, of Christiansburg, Va.; plus many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Goodpasture officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009, at the church. The Page family is being served by Horne Funeral Home.
