Frank Conley Obituary

Frank Edward Conley of Narrows, Va., went home to be with the Lord on his 81st birthday on Monday, June 22, 2009. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on June 22, 1928, and was the son of the late John Henderson and Annie Lee Johnston Conley. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Conley; and three sisters, Veronia (Ronnie) French, LaRue Brown and Arlene (Curley) Riddle. He was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 49 years of service. An avid gardener, he also supported Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church and East Chapel Community Church. Frank never knew a stranger and loved to travel the back roads of Southwest Virginia. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Marie Wheeler Conley, of Narrows; two sisters, Harriet Clark, and Bobbie Jones and husband, Leon, all of Narrows; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Giles Dialysis Center for the care given to Frank. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009, in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Tim Lacy and the Rev. Leon O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Wheeler/Conley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider either East Chapel Community Church or Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church. Online condolence messages to the family can be sent to www.riffes.com.
