Juanita Wheeler Obituary

Juanita Lillian Craighead Wheeler, 70, of Lafayette, Va., entered the gates of Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior on June 22, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Della Elizabeth Craighead; her brothers, Bernard and William (Bill) Craighead; sisters, Myrtle Collins, Ruby Palmer, Thelma Mae Craighead; and infant children. She is survived by her twin sons, Timmy and Dawn Wheeler, of California, and Tony and Gisela Wheeler, of Guam; daughter, Theresa and David Smith, of Salem; and four precious grandchildren, Megan Wheeler, Jason Wheeler, Levi Wheeler and Christina Smallwood. She is also survived by her brother, George J. and Helen Craighead; sisters, Geneva Morris, Betty and Milton Perfater, and Edith and Ray Epperly. Juanita was cherished by special nieces as caregivers, Pat Myers, Joyce Walker, Robin Akers and Regina Cooper. Also surviving are special friends, Christine Powell and Charlotte Hall. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Lafayette United Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Lockhart officiating. Interment will follow at North Fork Cemetery. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Richfield Recovery and Care Center for their tender care of our loved one the past five months. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Blue Ridge Chapter National Multiple Sclerosis Society, One Morton Drive, Suite 106, Charlottesville, Va. 22903 or to Juanita's Sunday School Class, c/o Edith Apgar Nichols, 5287 Lafayette Road, Lafayette, Va. 24087.
