James Hodges Obituary

James Herbert Hodges, 86, of Ferrum, Va., died on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. He was born on November 4, 1922, a son of the late Peter and Sally Hodges. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Shively Hodges; and brother, Raymond Hodges. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Warren and LaJuan Hodges, of Ridgeway; two grandchildren, Randall Hodges, of Ferrum, and Jamie Wilson, of Ridgeway; five greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandson; brothers, Edgar Hodges, of Penhook, Lenford and Sally Hodges, of Rocky Mount, and Hensil and Jane Hodges, of Rocky Mount; sister, Hazel Lumpkins; and sister-inlaw, Isabell Hodges. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009, from Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Tilley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Steve Tilley, 5850 Henry Road, Henry, Va. 24102. His family will be receiving friends from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service on Saturday at Flora Funeral Service, exclusive provider for Veterans & Family Memorial Care, Rocky Mount, Va. www.florafuneralservice.com
