James Herbert Hodges

James Herbert Hodges, 86, of Ferrum, Va., died on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. He was born on November 4, 1922, a son of the late Peter and Sally Hodges. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Shively Hodges; and brother, Raymond Hodges. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Warren and LaJuan Hodges, of Ridgeway; two grandchildren, Randall Hodges, of Ferrum, and Jamie Wilson, of Ridgeway; five greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandson; brothers, Edgar Hodges, of Penhook, Lenford and Sally Hodges, of Rocky Mount, and Hensil and Jane Hodges, of Rocky Mount; sister, Hazel Lumpkins; and sister-inlaw, Isabell Hodges. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009, from Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Tilley officiating.
