William Parker

William (Bill) Parker, 80, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord Friday, July 3, 2009. He was preceded by his parents, James G. and Sally Lewis Parker; three brothers; and two sisters. Bill retired from G.E. after 23 years of service and was a member of the Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Maggie Parker; a son, Jim Parker and his wife, Jean, Roanoke; grandchildren, Monica Parker, Roanoke, Katie Hensley, Blacksburg; greatgrandchild, Nate Parker; sister, Josephine Parker, Fla.; and a host of other relatives. The family would like to thank the Virginia Veterans Care Center staff for their care during this difficult time. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. A graveside service celebrating Bill's life will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastors Sam Belisle and Harry Miller officiating.
