Lanny Gray Bower

Lanny Gray Bower, 64, passed away , Friday, July 3, 2009, at his home, Hydee Manor, Montvale, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Rea Bower, brothers, Paul and Bob Bower, father-in-law, George Dowell, special brothers-in-law, Arthur Hawley and Ronnie Dowell. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Brenda D. Bower; loving daughters and sons-in-law, Whitney and Scot Thomas, Travis and Eric Johnson, Ashley and Philip Palmer. Loving him "to beyond" are his four precious granddaughters (Pappa's pretty girls), Gracie and Emma Thomas, Sarah Johnson, Rylan Palmer; special grandson, Christopher Johnson and Palmer baby boy-in-waiting; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andre and Janie Bower, Jerry and Becky Bower; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Jake Slusher; mother-in-law, Virginia Dowell; sister-in-law, Judy Dowel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Lloyd Willis, Joyce and Mike McFadden, Janet and Rudy Metz, Wilma and Brian Harter, Susan Jobe; many nieces and nephews which were an important part of his life, left with wonderful memories of a loving and caring "special uncle" who embraced them all into his heart and home, David, Jeff, Kirk, George, Richie, Missy, Tracie, Kelly, Shannon, Kathy Jo, Troy, Trae, Shawn, Jill, Hunter, Jason, Ryan, Lauren, their spouses and children. As he prepared for his amazing final journey, his last days were spent surrounded by all who honored him for the love and fellowship he shared with his family throughout the years with a celebration of his life. He will be greatly missed, always loved and remembered. A special thank-you to his attending physician Dr. Stephen Morgan and the loving care provided by Gentle Shepherd Hospice staff.
