Doris Lee Obituary

Doris Carter Lee, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009, after fighting a long illness. She was the daughter of Percy Burks Carter and Mary Blanche Early Carter. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles Edward Carter and Earl Burks Carter. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Burton Pierce Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Lee and Thomas Cavanaugh Webster, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Burton Lee and Margaret Edwards Lee, of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Carter Edwards Lee and Burton Pierce Lee II, also of Charleston, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, along with the excellent staff at South Roanoke Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received. The family will receive friends at home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at The Chapel of Light Mausoleum, Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave., S.W., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.
