Jimmy C. Roberts

Jimmy C. Roberts, 77, of Pulaski, Va., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 6, 2009. Born May 30, 1932, in Mt. Airy, N.C., he was the son of Alvin Roberts and Maude DePalma Roberts. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Samuel. He was a long time, dedicated member of the Dublin Baptist Church. Jim was an avid sports fan and he and Dorothy enjoyed watching Virginia Tech sports, the Atlanta Braves, and college basketball. They enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, bird watching and flower gardening. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Dorothy Nunn RoopRoberts, of Pulaski; daughter, Penny Stroupe and husband, Ron, of Advance, N.C.; son, Scott Roberts, of Wayne, Mich.; stepdaughters, Susan Dalrymple and husband, Tim, of Draper, and Sheila Roop and fiance, David Creed, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, April Galloway and Travis Fulk; stepgrandchildren, Jacob Dalrymple and Chris, David and Adam Plemen; six greatgrandchildren, sister, Louise Snider and husband, Jerry, of Orlando, Fla.; and close friend and sister-in-law, Fannie Nunn, of Pulaski. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Pulaski. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the Rev.
