Dorothy Johnson Obituary

Dorothy Louise Hamby (Dottie) Johnson, 75, of Rural Retreat, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2009. She was born on May 20, 1934, in Wythe County to the late Robert Claude and Geneva Bell Newman Hamby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Alfred Johnson, of 53 years; two brothers, Robert Claude Jr. (R.C.), and David Wayne Hamby. Survivors include her sister, Shirley Hamby Horton and husband, David, of Sorrento, Fla.; brothers, Donald Hamby, of Orlando, Fla., and George "Bobby" Hamby, of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters-inlaw, Betty Buchanan, of Goldsboro, N.C., Jeanette Smith and husband, Joe, of Marion, Dot Johnson, of Bristol, Va., and Bessie Johnson, of Marion; five brothers-in-law, Paul Johnson and wife Martha, of Lake Mary, Fla., Herbert "Turk" Johnson and wife, Lorraine "Penny," of Groseclose, Joe Johnson and wife, Rose, of Marion, Jimmy Johnson and friend, Linda, of Marion, and Ervin Johnson and wife, Darlene, of Marion; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Jason McNeese officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009, at Middlefork Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home or any time at the home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Middle Fork Cemetery, P.O. Box 613 Chilhowie, Va. 24319. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion, Va., is serving the Johnson family.
