Jeffrey Lee Shifflett

Jeffrey Lee (Jeff) Shifflett, 51, of Vinton, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Shifflett. Mr. Shifflett dedicated his life to serving his community as the chief of the Hardy Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and was a Deputy Fire Marshall for Bedford County. He was a long time employee of Aramark, in Vinton. He was a loving and devoted son, father and husband. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Shifflett; mother, Wanda D. Shifflett, of Vinton; children, Chelsey Bobbitt and her husband, Shane, SSgt USAF Whiteman Air Force Base Missouri, Cory M. Shifflett and his wife, Chasity, of Thaxton, Michael Smith, of Roanoke, Ashley and Kayla Simmons, of Vinton; his longtime companions, Chester, Abby, Mack and Murphy; and numerous other family members and friends. Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, the Rev. Edward Creel will officiate and interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
