Mary Evelyn Boyd King

Mary Evelyn Boyd King, 80, of Salem, Va., departed this life in the early hours of July 14, 2009. She was born June 5, 1929, in Pulaski, Va. She was the daughter of, and preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Viola Boyd, of Draper, Va. Mary was also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Boyd, also of Draper; and a sister, Betty Dalton, of Pulaski. Surviving brothers are Marvin Boyd and wife, Marie, of Dayton, Ohio, and Byron Boyd and wife, Jenny, of Dublin, Va., and sister, Margaret Crockett, of Pulaski, Va.; her daughters, Dreama King Lay and husband, Warren, of Catawba, Claudia King Lambruscati and husband, Steve, of Salem, and Karen King Gladden and fiance, Monty King, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Kristi Hardy and husband, Brian, of Leesburg, Jay Gladden and Benjamin Goodpasture, of Salem, and Mary Gladden, of Roanoke; beloved great-grandsons, Jet and Bryce Hardy, of Leesburg; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was a fun loving, and devoted mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She gave her daughters a great appreciation for music and dance. She was a member of the Christian Church of Draper, Va. No words will ever express how missed she will be in our lives. To the nursing staff at Lewis Gale Hospital, Third Floor West, thank you for the attentive care given to our mother. Also, a loving thank you to Mary's beloved grandchildren, offering comfort to their grandmother in her final hours. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Mary's sweet life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren, 3110 Pioneer Road, by Pastor Michael Huffaker.
