Elsie Kerr Spicer

Elsie Kerr Spicer, 100, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009. Mrs. Spicer was retired from Dominion Bankshares with 25 years of service. She was a member of Southview United Methodist Church, prior to that she was a member of Highland Park U.M.C. for over 65 years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Kerr and Albert R. Spicer; sons, Douglas Kerr and Alfred Kerr; daughter, Doris Morrison; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her son, Albert Kerr and his wife, Connie, of Geneva, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Hope Kerr; grandson, Jeffrey Kerr; granddaughter, Pamela Nichols and her husband, Allen; greatgrandson, Bradley, all of Roanoke; sisters, Lil Wootton, Ellen Monroe, and Dorothy Briggs; numerous other grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, and other family members. The family would like to express a special thanks to Marie and Kim of Care Unlimited, Teresa and Amber of Good Samaritan Hospice, and her caregiver and friend, Lisa Naff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospice or Southview United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Les Trail will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
