Dorothy Young Obituary

Dorothy M. Young, 86, of Cascade Drive in Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Monday afternoon, July 27, 2009, at her home after a long illness. Born in Pembroke on July 21, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Salonia Williams McGuire. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Albert Martin; her daughter, Alda Sue Martin; her brothers, Everett, Roy, and Samuel McGuire; and her sisters, Lucy Lucas, Sippie Hutchison, Agnes Merix, and Glenna Morris. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Robert H. "Buck" Young; her son and daughter-in-law, Rondy L. and Margene Martin, of Loomis, Calif.; her daughter and sonin-law, Wanda M. and Samuel Brumfield, of Pembroke; her five grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; her sisters, Beulah M. Radford, of Rich Creek, and Ruby M. Willis, of Georgia; and several devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, July 31, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
