Mary Beckner Obituary

Mary Bloomfield Childress Beckner, 88, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, August 2, 2009. She was born July 30, 1921, a daughter of the late Jim and Ida Webster Childress. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mose Peter Beckner; sons, Leslie Richards, Paul Beckner and Larry Beckner. Surviving are her sons, Roy M. Beckner, Ferrum and James M. Beckner, Henry County; daughters, Betty Jane Stanley, Texas, Sylvia Linea Beckner, Roanoke and Carol Beckner, Ferrum; five grandchildren, Roy Beckner Jr., Michael Beckner, Gary Beckner, Tonya Renee Stanley and Delores Stanley; one great-grandchild; brother Russell Childress, Bedford; close friend, Isaac Reed. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009, with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Adney Gap Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount. www.lynchconner bowman.com
