Leona Whorley Zimmerman

Leona Whorley Zimmerman, 80, of Vinton, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey L. and Zula Jones Whorley; two brothers, Lynn and Gerald Whorley; and the father of her children, J. Bryan Zimmerman. She was a member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church for 45 years. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Michael B. and Kathy H. Zimmerman, Donald N. and Karen L. Zimmerman; a daughter and her husband, Lisa Z. and Anthony W. Conner all of Vinton; seven grandchildren, Neil and his wife Nikki Zimmerman, Ashley Zimmerman, Jon Michael Zimmerman, Taylor Zimmerman, Jackie and husband Brian Gardner, Jamie Conner, and John Conner; one great-grandchild, Maggie Zimmerman; one brother, Wendell Whorley and his wife Jean all of Bedford. Special thanks for the love and care provided by Nancy and Charlotte. The family suggest memorials be made to Lynn Haven Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 with Chaplain Marvin Barbre officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. 982-2221.
