Ballard Stanley Obituary

Ballard Daniel Stanley, 86, of Bland, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2009 at his home. He was born May 8, 1923 at Bland County, Va., the son of the late Charlie William and Lillie Ellen Dalton Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Ruth Stanley, two sons, Roger and Franklin Stanley, a daughter, Nancy Hager, a grandson, Richard (Rickie) Stanley, five brothers and three sisters. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, a Life Time Member of the Hollybrook-Mechanicsburg Fire Department, a heavy equipment operator in the Coal Mining Industry. He is survived by his wife, Mary D. Stanley, Bland; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Curtis Sexton, Bland; one sister, Virginia Hazel Branham, Pulaski; a son-in-law, Ronnie D. Hager, Bland; a daughter-in-law, Janie Stanley, Bluefield, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Benga Atwell (James), Bastian, Kayla Nicole Hull (Thomas), Bland, Tammy Parnell and Darren Stanley; a stepgrandson, Curtis Sexton, Jr., Fredericksburg; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with the Rev. Danny Shortridge officiating. Interment service on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Cemetery, Hollybrook. The visitation will be on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until service time at 7:30 p.m.
