Barbara Riddell Bagby

Barbara Riddell Bagby went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, after a short illness. She was born September 29, 1919, in Richmond, Virginia. She made a life for herself and her family in Pearisburg, Virginia from 1946 until 1971 when she moved to Roanoke. Many happy hours were spent with her friends playing duplicate bridge. She would eventually go on to become a Life Master. Surviving are her two sons, E. Lynwood Bagby III, of Littleton, N.C., and Carl F. Bagby, of Roanoke, Va.; her sister, Antoinette Foster; and sister-in-law, Margaret Riddell. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. E. Lynwood Bagby and daughter, Ann Marie, sister, Genevieve Riley, and brother, Arthur Riddell. Special thanks for the love and care extended by the folks on Five West of Lewis Gale Hospital, Roanoke, and many thanks also to her friends and loved ones who have assisted through the last days with prayers and calls of support. The family will receive friends Thursday (today), 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's ~ Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
