Virginia Pauline Holcomb

Virginia Pauline Holcomb, 85, of Rocky Mount, Va., passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was a retired seamstress from Bristol Manufacturing and a homemaker who loved cooking, sewing, flowers and gardening. Mrs. Holcomb was of the Brethren faith. She was born December 14, 1923, a daughter of the late George W. and Eula Hodges. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Leonard Holcomb. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Elizabeth Holcomb, and Mark and Kim Holcomb; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Billy Stump, Bonnie Reynolds, and Rhonda and Pete Jones; grandchildren, Darryl Holcomb, Timothy Holcomb, Teresa Sanders, and Melissa Ogburn; stepgrandchildren, Alyssa Glasser, Samantha Moore and Crystal Tracey; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth English; brother and sister-in-law, Roy Dayton and Frances Hodges; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hodges and Jean Linkous; brother-in-law, Raymond Holcomb; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, August, 13, 2009, from Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
