James Hostetter Obituary

James Mason Hostetter, 90, of Lexington, Va., died on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Heritage Hall. Born on October 20, 1918, he was the son of the late Robert Tyler Hostetter and Nervie Mae Higgins Hostetter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Edna Wilhelm Hostetter; his daughter, Doris Mae Hostetter; three sisters, Mary Hostetter Higgins, Kathleen Hostetter Wallace, and Ruby Hostetter Higgins; and three brothers, William, Leonard, and Earl Hostetter. Mr. Hostetter was the oldest living member of the Bible Church at Rockbridge, and retired from Burlington Industries with 25 years of service. Surviving are his children, Jean Ann Hostetter Clark and husband, Talmage, of Harrisonburg, Marjorie Ellen Hostetter, James Stephenson Hostetter and wife, Lonie, and Edna Marie Hostetter Wade and husband, Lewis, all of Lexington: 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren; brother, James Henry Hostetter and wife, Lawana, of Roanoke; sisters, Clessie Hostetter Chaplin and husband, Bennie, of Glasgow, and Irene Hostetter Clark, of Lexington. Also surviving are his special caregivers and family at Heritage Hall. Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George Warden officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of Steve and Lonie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Church at Rockbridge, 3 W. Whistle Creek, Lexington, Va. 24450. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington, Va.
