Ora Compton Obituary

Ora Mae Salmons Compton, 98, of Floyd Va., passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Compton; son, Edward Compton; grandson, Stevie Compton; four sisters; and one brother. She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Lawrence and Guiwana Compton, William and Ruth Compton, and Eliga and Lorene Compton, all of Bassett; four daughters and son-in-laws, Cuma (Sis) and Hutson Inman, of Danville, Ethel and Billy Harmon, Ila and David Martin, and Shirley Compton, all of Floyd; brother, Carlis Salmons, of Roanoke; sister-inlaw, Dorothy Salmons, of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six greatgreat-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; eight stepgreat -great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Sage officiating. Interment will follow at Lee Cemetery, Tuggles Gap. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
