Janie Lovell Obituary

Janie Lee McGraw Lovell died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of August 17, 2009, at her home in Roanoke County. She was born on February 18, 1933, in True, W.Va., to the late Ethel and Ozie McGraw. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Jessie; and a grandson, Conner. Janie is survived by a daughter, Terry Lovell Newman and husband, John; son, Harvey Lee Lovell; granddaughter, Rene' Newman; and grandsons, Spencer, Tyler and Christopher Lovell.
Janie spent her early adult years caring for her family on a farm in Montgomery County before attending Virginia Western Community College. She later became a successful realtor and retired from Coldwell-Banker in 1995.
Never one to be idle, she then became a Master Gardener honing a skill she already possessed from many of years of gardening on the farm. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, a good and faithful friend, a strong and capable woman and a loving mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Sherwood Memorial Park.

"To describe our mom would be to write about a hurricane in it's perfect power."
Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.

Terry and Harvey,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.
I'll never forget growing up with you guys. Your Mother was a kind and caring person. She made me a dress to wear in the school pageant.
Your family will be in our prayers.

What a wonderful woman and a wonderful life. I knew her through real estate for a number of years. She was always kind and sincere, something lacking so much these days. A great woman. May your memories provide you solice over the coming days.

To Terry, Harvey and Family,
Even though I had not seen your Mom or you for many years, I have from time to time thought so much of the people that touched my life when I lived in the Elliston/Shawsville area. May God be with each of you during this difficult time.

Harvey and Terry & Grandsons,

My prayers are with you and I know she is at peace. I will pray for you all to find some peace with this yourself. She was a great lady and I thought of her as a mom. I was lucky enough to get to know her while she was here and she was a very sweet and special lady. I will be there for you all any time you need me.

Love, Tamara
