LaRue Lucas Wimmer

LaRue Lucas Wimmer, 100, of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009. She was born on September 4, 1908, in Radford, Va., and was the daughter of the late Sidney and Mary Lucas. She was a devoted, active, and founding member of Greenhill Church of the Brethren. She loved to play the piano and guitar, write poetry, and read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wimmer; a son, Raymond Edward Wimmer; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by a son, Joseph Lee Wimmer; daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Jim C. Gresham; three grandchildren, Jeff Wimmer, Darlene East, and Michael Wimmer; three greatgrandchildren, Alesea Wimmer, Bella Wimmer, and Gabriel Wimmer; daughter-in-law, Jean Wimmer; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Greenhill Church of the Brethren with the Pastor Shawn Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
