Elmer C. Chocklett

Elmer C. Chocklett, 80, of Botetourt County, Va., died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. He was the owner of E.C. Chocklett Concrete and Pottery for over 40 years and retired from the N & W Railroad. Elmer was born on August 2, 1929, to the late Henry and Restine Chocklett and was also preceded in death by his brother, Earl Chocklett. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carrie; son and daughter-in-law, David and Ronda; daughter, Janice; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa; nine grandchildren, Brian, Nikki, Angie, Jaren, Jesse, Amanda, Matt, Kyle, and Kalvin; three great-grandkids, Tyler, Hayley, and Jalen; brother, Cecil Chocklett; sister, Joyce Stinnett; and his beloved dog, Brownie. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Hospice and the Veterans Administration Hospital for the care given to Elmer. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Dava Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the United States Army. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
