Faye Smith Tilson

Faye Smith Tilson, 69, of Blacksburg, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital, She was born in Saltville, Va. on February 10, 1940 to the late Mary Clarice and William Alfred Smith. She was a graduate of Radford University. She taught high school in Radford, Va. and Tupelo, Miss. She loved to travel and enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining friends and family as well as throwing parties. Playing with her grandchildren was a special love for her . She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Tilson, Jr., of Blacksburg; two daughters, Lee Tilson Strand and husband Mike, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Sarah Tilson-Miano and husband, Marc, of Radford; son, Charles E. (Trey) Tilson, III and wife Shane, of Lexington, Va.; sister, Kay Brown and fiancé Jody Chapman, of Asheville, N.C.; brother, Jim Smith and wife Pam, of Raleigh, N.C.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathy and Ed Comer, of Harrisonburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Joey and Chris Strand, and twins Calvin and Olivia Tilson. Memorial services will be conducted Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Preston Ore Sartele officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday August 23, 2009 as well as immediately following the service at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
