Richard was one of the sweetest guy I have ever met. He was a good boy.

Brandon,
I'm so sorry for you're loss. I have known Richard for many years now and he was a pleasure to be around no matter what we were doing from fishing to hunting. Richard had a drive about him where he would strive to be the best he could be at what he loved the most. When I am out doing the things he loved Richard will be in my thoughts and in some way's he will still be there.

I was so saddened to hear of Richard's passing. I truly enjoyed trading "fish" stories with him at the local tournaments. The fishing community as well as all of tidewater has lost a great person. Our sincere condolences go out to Richards family.

Richard was a good friend of mine, who always had my back growing up. I missed him dearly after he moved away; however, I had the fortune of a few visits and fishing trips over the years. I will always hold on to those memories. I believe Richard lived more in a week than most live in a lifetime. I pray for Richards son and parents to receive comfort and peace from God during this time.

Brandon, Mr& Mrs Bartlett, I was so sorry to hear this news. Richard was the Captain I fished with during many tournaments. We might not have won them all, but they sure knew we where there. To think of him not being around, truley breaks my heart.
Branndon, Please always remember how much your Dad loved you, and how proud he was of you. I never fished with him that I didn't get a report of you.

My husband (Capt.Zipper)and I knew Richard from his days spent at the VBFC. My fondest memories were seeing him and Brandon together at the marina, Richard offloading his catch, Brandon running the docks, chatting with anyone and everyone that would listen. Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett: I met Richard at Dare Marina and fished many times with him. He was one of the finest men I ever met and taught me so much about fishing the bay. I will miss fishing with him.

Most of us have some ups & downs in our life, as Richard did, but the times I have had the pleasure of being around him, he always had a smile on his face, and I never heard a negitave coment about anyone. Our thoughts are with you Brandon, Mr. & Mrs. Bartlett. Richard was a long time friend and many times considered a staff member in my tackle shop. Always talking to and helping any customers that would be in the store when he would stop by. He would be quick to give strangers to him some secret tips how to rig and catch any species fish they would be targeting. From blue marlin to speckle trout Richard Bartlett will always be remembered as one of the best fisherman in the area. We will miss him ,and the fish will not!

Our favorite memories of Richard are of the times we used to raft up our boats and float down the York River late into the night. We shared a lot of laughs and had some really good times together out on the river. We will truly miss him and his seemingly ever-present smile.
