Glenn Geertgens Obituary

Glenn R. Geertgens, 64, of Salem, Va., passed away Friday, August 28, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Geertgens; and a brother, Gary Geertgens. Mr. Geertgens retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #284. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Barbara A. Geertgens; sons, Beau Geertgens, of New York, and Jesse Geertgens and wife, Laura, of Connecticut; mother, Herminda Simpson, of Roanoke; granddaughter, Ava; brothers, Jeff Geertgens, of New York; and Earl "Shorty" Geertgens, of Arizona; stepdaughter, Teresa Brown, of Roanoke; step grandchildren, Daytona Brown, Mercedes McKee, Barbara Taylor McKee, Charlie Peterson, and Haley Brown, mother-inlaw, Carolyn Reynolds; sistersin-law, Bea, Ruth, and Sandy Combs, and Susie Cobler; and numerous cousins and other family members, including Dennis Perrault, of Florida. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends following the service. Barbara sorry to hear of the passing of Glenn I just found out today by Dr.Donikowski I did not know or I would have sent a card and flowers he was such a nice guy and a great patient.Please take care of yourself and the little dog that Glenn talked about walking.With my deepest Sympathy
