Novella Stanfield Perkins

Novella Stanfield Perkins, of Marion, Va., died on Friday, August 28, 2009, at her daughter's home in Bluffton, S.C., surrounded by her family. Despite impending death, she maintained her dignity and grace until the end. Mrs. Perkins was born on December 1, 1923, in Saltville, Va., to Maybelle and James Stanfield. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, James Stanfield. Mrs. Perkins was retired from Harwood Manufacturing Company in Marion, Va. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Linda and Richard Schick, of Manassas, Va., Polly and Gary Bailey, of Bluffton, S.C., Buz and Ruby Perkins, of Marion, Va., John Perkins, of Marion, Va., and Sherree and Baynard Barton, of Wytheville, Va.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Harold and Christine Stanfield, of Saltville, Va.; and two sisters-in-law, Opal P. Taylor, of Princeton, W.Va., and Norma and Herbert McAllister, of Abingdon, Va. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with President Seth Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
