Buford W. Sesler Sr.

Buford W. Sesler Sr., 93, of Salem, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was born on October 6, 1915, in Montgomery County, Va., son of the late Samuel L. and Annie Bell Epperly Sesler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Margaret Cumb Sesler; brother, Samuel Sesler; and a sister, Olive Marie Klatt. Mr. Sesler retired from Roanoke Fashions with 38 years of service and was a member of the American Association of Textile, Chemist and Colorist. He was a United States Navy World War II Veteran and a member and former deacon of Fort Lewis Baptist Church since 1948. He is survived by two sons, Buford "Bill" Sesler Jr. and Gary W. Sesler and wife, Pam; two daughters, Helen Sue Robinson and Mary Ann Hollandsworth; brothers, Edward Sesler and wife, Bernice, and George Sesler and companion, Anne Thacker; eight grandchildren, Jeff and Emily Sesler, Michael and Jennifer Sesler, Michelle Lucado, Terri Robinson, Kelly and Duane Perrine, Stacie Sesler, Brandon Sesler and Courtney Sesler; eight greatgrandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harold E. Cumb and Lawrence E. Hawkins; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Dave Vanderpool officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity of choice in his name. John M.
