William McNulty Obituary

William Patrick McNulty, 71, of Bluffton, S.C., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was retired from Carilion in 2000, and had served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1968. He was an avid fisherman who loved the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Col. and Mrs. William A. McNulty. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Barbara Ann McNulty; a daughter, Tracy McNulty Thornton, of Antioch, Ill.; a son, John Anderson McNulty and Kellie Chvosta, of Palatine, Ill.; three grandsons, Donald, Keith and William Thornton, of Antioch, Ill.; loving sister and brother-in-law, Winkie McNulty Kuyk and Dutch Kuyk, of Chester, Mass.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. Funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, September 14, 2009, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Erin Hensley officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.

Barb & Family,
You know Mike and I are saddened by Pat's passing. After all the years we knew him, we know he would want you to be at peace as he is now. We'll keep you and your family in our prayers. We regret not being able to be there in person for you, but hope to see you soon.

Barbara,
I know this is a really hard time for you right now. I am thinking about you and will keep you and your family in my prayers. I will be in Texas visiting my brother beginning 9/11, so I won't make it to see you, but wanted you to know you are in my thoughts. Betsy Dishner
