Yachia Boardley-Rivers Obituary

Yachica D. Boardley-Rivers, 29, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Frances Hurt; and cousin, Latasha Boardley. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth C. Rivers; children, Aaliyah Rivers, TeJuan Preston and Sarah Rivers; mother, Laleta Lisa Brown; father, Roger (Pam) Hurt; brother, Brandon Boardley; sisters, Ashley Boardley and Tandeia Pannell; father and mother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Rivers; godmother, Corrie Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Cameron Jackson officiating and the Rev. Heath Cheek, eulogist. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon, September 20, 2009, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Hamlar-Curtis.com.

I am so deeply saddened by the loss of Yachia Boardly-Rivers. I knew her from Patrick Henry Highschool and she was a lovely person, with a big heart. Your family is in my thoughts and prayer, for how well do I know the overwhelming hurt that comes with the loss, fore I lost my 22 year old brother August 12, 2009. May God comfort all of you and heal you with time.
