Sonya Gantt Obituary

On the morning of September 17, 2009, heavenly angels came to take Sonya Minnis Gantt, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Roanoke, home to her Lord and Savior. She was born on December 10, 1960, the eldest daughter of Carl Minnis and the late Barbara Jean Woody Minnis. She remembers her childhood, growing up in Lincoln Terrace with friends and relatives. She was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Carlos Minnis; and daughter, Latoria Minnis, both of Roanoke; precious grandchildren, Latifa, Kyree, Mya, Malaysia and A.J.; brothers, Carl Reginald Minnis, of Roanoke, and Gerald Minnis, of Alexandria; sister, Trina Minnis Carter, of Augusta, Ga.; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 21, 2009, at noon at Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Sunday for 3 to 8 p.m. for viewing.
