Joyce Kyle Saunders

God saw fit to call to heavenly rest one of his sweetest flowers in the person of Joyce Kyle Saunders on Monday, September 21, 2009. She was loved by all she came in contact with because of her kind, sweet disposition. Joyce, age 56, was born and reared in Salem, Virginia. She graduated from Roanoke County-Salem City Schools. Joyce was an active member of First Baptist Church all of her life. She was employed as a technician in the Cancer Treatment Center at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Joyce was married to the late James Saunders. She is survived by her 95 year old mother, Mrs. Ruth Kyle; her mother in-law, Mrs. Shirley Thompson; an aunt, Ms. Gertrude G. Kyle; a sister, Barbara (Willie) Waker; a brother, Dr. Joseph H. Kyle; a cousin raised as a brother, John (Rachel) Meldrum; a stepson, Chris Logan; sister-in-law, Marion Logan; a brother-in-law, Jerry Saunders; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Salem with the Rev. Melton Johnson officiating. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park.
