Jeannine Altis Jones

Suddenly, without warning today, we four girls have lost our precious mother. Jeannine Altis Jones, born August 20, 1929, went to her heavenly home Thursday, September 24, 2009. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ronney E. Altis, Wayne (Pete) Altis, Charles D. Altis; mother, Christine Altis King; and father, Curtis Dewey Altis. Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Davis, of Rocky Mount, Cheryl Payne and husband, Jim, of Richmond, Sherry Lloyd and Charlie, of Myrtle Beach, Sonja Kidd and Ricky, of Roanoke; special sonsin-law, Bobby Davis, of Hurt, and Jerry Hogan, of Roanoke; a special sister, JoAnn Marsh and husband, Robert, of Roanoke. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jeffrey Hogan, Terry Davis, Keith Smith, Crystal Jones, Jessica Starke, Natali Fernandez; 10 greatgrandchildren; and her special companion, a cockatiel named 'Rosie'. Jeannine, in her early years, worked at Yale & Town in Salem, and she worked in Dietetics at the VA Medical Center for 13 years before retiring. A special thanks from the family to Dr. Jeri Lantz. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, in the Roanoke chapel of Lotz Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
