Bruce Herman Obituary

Bruce Edward Herman, 54, of Galax, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tenn. Bruce was born on March 13, 1955, in Clifton Forge, Va., to Berlin Edward Herman Jr. and Jacquelyn Hughes Woodrum Herman. He is survived by his wife, Laura Lee Herman, of Rockville, Md.; daughters, Becky Herman, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tori Herman, of Rockville, Md.; son, Ross Herman, of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kent and Teresa Herman, of Lexington, N.C., and Eric and Sherry Herman, of Woodlawn, Va.; niece, Callie Herman; and nephews, Logan Herman and Ian Herman. The funeral service will be held 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009, in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Dr. Tom Whartenby officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Union Chapel Cemetery in Hot Springs, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Galax Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 2, Galax, Va. 24333 or to the Galax Foundation For Excellence In Education, P.O. Box 487, Galax, Va. 24333. A guestbook is available online at www.vaughanguynn.com

I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Bruce through his time at Zee. Bruce and I worked a few days together in the Myrtle Beach route and enjoyed some time together. Bruce was a wonderful kind man and thought are with you now. Jovana Meeks
