Sidney Saville Obituary

Sidney Honts Saville Jr., 70, of Eagle Rock, Va., passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, with his family by his side. Mr. Saville was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea during the Viet Nam era as a Heavy Vehicle Operator and he was awarded the Sharpshooters Medal. He retired from Hercules as a maintenance mechanic, and he was a member of the National Rifle Association and Galatia Presbyterian Church. Daddy and PawPaw enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Honts Saville Sr. and Estelle Heath Saville. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nona King Saville; sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney III (Rusty) and Natalie Saville, of McKinney Hollow, and Dale and Lorri Saville, of Rich Patch; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Darryl Johns, of Eagle Rock; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lanny and Cheryl Saville, and Louis and Betty Saville, all of Eagle Rock; grandchildren, Taylor and Charlie Johns, Ben, Josh, and Robbie Saville, and Ezekiel Saville. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009, in the Galatia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert A. McRae officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. Those wishing to make a contribution, please consider the Youth of Rich Patch Union Church, 6600 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Va. 24426 or the Eagle Rock Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 234, Eagle Rock, Va. 24085. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14777 Church Street, Eagle Rock, Va., 540-884-2276.
