William Lee Surratt

William Lee Surratt, 78, of 264 Cherward St., Collinsville, Va., died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born on April 17, 1931, in Wythe County, Va. to the late William Clarence Surratt and Mary Elizabeth Spencer Surratt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kyle Surratt, who died when he was 17 months old. Mr. Surratt worked for Fluor Daniels at E. I. DuPont as an electrician and served in the United States Army. Surviving are his daughter, Patti Kay Bryant and son-in-law, Mark, of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Gary Alan Surratt, of Radford, Va.; sisters and brothers-inlaw, Naomi and Hugh Webb, of Max Meadows, Va., Mavis and Coy Vaughn, of Max Meadows, Va., Janet and Bob Webb, of Pulaski, Va., Cassie and Greg Nunn, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Sharon and Barry Umberger, of Max Meadows, Va.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Louise Surratt, of Max Meadows, Va., and Lewis and Betty Surratt, of Bristol, Va.; a very special stepgranddaughter, Kasie Joyce, of Collinsville, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, October 12, 2009, at Charity Primitive Baptist Church located on Castleton Road, between Poplar Camp (State Rt. 52) and Patterson (State Rt. 100) in Wythe County, Va. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Chapel, 1500 Kings Mountain Road, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
