To the family of Shalynda, I know you do not know me, but I was truly touched by this story. I am a senior in college from Roanoke VA, studying business just like your daughter. I am also 21 years old, I love the Lord, and most coincidental I am also studying abroad in Italy. I know that there is nothing I can say to ease your pain, but I want you to know that your daughter has just indirectly been blessed by your daughter. Her story shows me that I can no longer take like and my faith lightly. Any day can be your last.If anything, she has deepened my faith and I thank God for you and her. You are in my heart and prayers!!!

Dearest Toney Family,
Our daughter Melissa was truly blessed to have been able to meet your precious daughter Shalynda there in Rome. When Melissa called home and said, “Mom I met this really nice girl, and she’s a lot like me and we’re going to Church together” her father and I were so happy. Melissa shared with us when they went to church at the Pantheon, but it was all in Italian, so then they went to another Church. Your daughter loved the LORD so much that the two girls even went to a Bible Study there in Rome, that exact week of her passing. Our family would like to express our deepest condolences in the loss of your Shalynda. Our Church and Azusa Pacific University have been praying for you and your family. And I want you to know that Shalynda was on a prayer chain the minute we heard of the accident. But we believe Shalynda was chosen by GOD. Because of her death and the giving of her organs thousands will come to know about her faith and about the Precious Lord Jesus Christ we all love. Now the City of Rome and the families of those who received her organs, along with the Doctors and Police Officers, will be drawn to Shalynda’s GOD. We know the girls WILL see each other again and thank you so much for raising such a dear child. Melissa will remain in Italy as we know Shalynda would have wanted her to stay but without a doubt she will truly be missed. May the GOD of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham, comfort you during this difficult time. Please know that we will continue to pray for your family and although we never go to meet you or Shalynda we love you and loved her.

TONEY family, My mother Jeannine Clay, wanted me to send you her prayers. She is in Florida now but is aware of the pain you feel. No parent expects to bury thier children but they do. She understands, child birth pain can never compare the pain you feel of the death of a child you carried. We get upset when one tells you that "you lost a child".. Shaylnda is no way LOST,she will live on in spirit and thru the families that needed her for purpose. You will heal but you'll never forget and you shouldnt. She sends her love and wishes she could be here to celebrate the life of your child. I told her how beautiful she has become and a mirrow of her mother!! I was just viewing some pictures of you singing at my wedding and Ms Shaylnda sitting back watching her mom sing. I have no words to help you thru this but one-- GOD..I have questioned the amount of a load he has put on me and I made it, and so will you,, God will keep you in perfect peace...
