Mittie Ann Duncan Rhodes

Mittie Ann Duncan Rhodes, 66, of Crockett, Va., died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at her home. She was born on May 17, 1943, to the late Sam and Ruth Duncan, and was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mittie was previously employed by Rural Retreat Garment Company, was retired from Merillat Industries and is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bobby Rhodes; one son, Rickey Rhodes and wife, Donna, of Rural Retreat, Va.; one daughter, Lisa Beggs and husband, Mark , of Rock, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Brianna Rhodes, Rickelle Rhodes, Tanner Beggs, Lee Beggs; three brothers, William Duncan, of Harper's Ferry, W.Va., Charlie Duncan and wife, Linda, of Wytheville, Va., Marshall Duncan , of Galax, Va.; three sisters, Marie Pickle and husband, Ted, of Crockett, Va., Louise Visage and husband, Jim, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Lynn and Bob Sadler, of Bland, Va.; brothersin-law and sister-in-law, Blaine and Mary Rhodes, Charlie Miller, all of Rural Retreat, Va.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Burnell Gregory, of Glade Spring, Va., Shirley Vipperman, of Rural Retreat, Va. Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009, at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. RuthAnne Henley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time. A graveside committal service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mountain View Cemetery, in Rural Retreat. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
