Fred Bennett Obituary

Fred Dice Bennett Sr., 78, of Rocky Mount, Va., died Friday, October 16, 2009. He was born April 27, 1931, in Circleville, W.Va. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mounts Bennett; his mother, Tena S. Bennett; father, Jesse H. Bennett; son, Fred D. Bennett Jr.; and daughter, Julie Bennett Mitchell. He is survived by a son, David W. Bennett and wife, Deana, of Farmville; granddaughter, Traci B. Oakes and husband, Cale, of Rocky Mount; grandson, Terry L. Mitchell (Tressi Young), of Rocky Mount; stepgrandsons, Jamie and Justin Womack, of Farmville; great-grandsons, Caleb and Tanner Oakes, of Rocky Mount; brother, Faye H. Bennett and wife, Dorothy, of Circleville, W.Va.; sister, Hazel B. Simmons, of Cherry Grove, W.Va.; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Furnace Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Furnace Creek Baptist Church, 975 Scuffling Hill Rd., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. His family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
