Era Lumsden Obituary

Era Brown Lumsden, 90, of Wirtz, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 16, 2009. She was born on December 26, 1918, to the late Tommie N. and Victoria Smith Brown and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Lumsden; three sisters, Estelle Wilson, Gladys Byrd, and Dotsie Dillon; and one brother, Archie Brown. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma Ann and Tom Hovis, of Fairfax, and Shirley and Bob Houck, of Culpeper; one son, Forrest Lumsden; one grandson, Edward Hovis and wife, Jennifer; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Dorothy Brown; one sister-inlaw, Madaline Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va., www.lynchconnerbowman.com
