Paris Hackler Obituary

Paris J. Hackler, 87, of Independence, Va., a resident of Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, Va., passed away October 17, 2009, at the center. He was born November 6, 1921, at Independence, Va., to the late Dewey C. and Grace Boyer Hackler and also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Vass Hackler; a sister, Pauline Hackler; son-in-law, Don Montgomery; and grandson, Mark Montgomery. He was a member of Peach Bottom Primitive Baptist Church, Independence, Va. and a World War 11 United States Air Force Veteran. Surviving, daughter, Patsy J. Montgomery, of Galax, Va.; three sons and spouses, Dennis and Robin Hackler, Mike and Sherry Hackler, and David Hackler and fiancee, Bonnie Roberts, all of Independence, Va.; five grandchildren, Kim Hackler and Matt Montgomery and spouse, Beverly, all of Independence, Va., Shilah Turner and spouse, Scott, of Lawton, Okla., Annika Hackler, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Bradley Hackler, of Blacksburg, Va.; two stepgrandchildren, Mason May and Julie Brown, both of Independence, Va.; and brother and spouse, Jesse and Treva Hackler, of Independence, Va. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va. with interment in Hackler Cemetery, Independence, Va. Elder Ed Bowman, Elder James Hayden and the Rev. Bill Shupe officiating. The family will receive friends one hour preceding the funeral service and other times at the home of David Hackler, 507 Boomer Drive, Independence, Va. Military Rites will be conducted at graveside by Grayson County VFW Post 7726. Flowers appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Elk Creek Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 130, Elk Creek, Va. 24326. Arrangements by ReinsSturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va.
