Mazie Roy Obituary

Mrs. Mazie Lena Board Roy, of Martinsville, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Mazie was born in Franklin County and raised by the late Desker and Augusta Board, whom she loved and adored. Mrs. Roy was a long time member of Lovely Valley Baptist Church in Wirtz. She also served as an Officer, Church Mother, Usher and faithful Deacon at Community Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Del. Mazie was the beloved wife of the late Milton L. Roy. In addition to her precious husband, Mother Roy was preceded in death by her brother, Ray; and youngest daughter, Muriel. Mrs. Mazie L. Roy is survived by three children, Lois, Loretta and Milton Jr.; eight grandchildren, David Jr., Lori, Gina, Cleavon, Milton III, Michel, Portia and Russell. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members, church family and friends. Early viewing will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, at Stanfield Mortuary, 2491 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Lovely Valley Baptist Church, 836 Lovely Valley Road (Route 668), Wirtz, Va. 24184. The family will receive friends one half-hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lovely Valley Baptist Church. Friends of the family are welcome to join the precession beginning 11 a.m. at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 50 Moral Hill Drive (Route 58), Axton, Va. 24054.

A long full life, strong family values and a beautiful legacy...this is what Mrs. Mazie represents and leaves behind. May the peace of God comfort you all during this hour. My apologies for not being able to be with you but my prayers have been there and will remain.
