Peggy Keesee Obituary

Peggy Jamerson Keesee, 66, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 23, 2009. She went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer. Born in Lynchburg, June 26, 1943, she is the daughter of Helen Jamerson, "Nannie J", of Lynchburg and the late Thurman P. Jamerson. Peggy was such an amazing and devoted mother, simply because of her own mother. She was the wife of Barry Revely Keesee and they shared 46 wonderful years. She was his "Sugar". They fell in love when they were 12 years old and Barry was a dedicated and loving husband. He never left her side during this difficult time. Peggy is also survived by her big brother, Thurman P. Jamerson, Jr. and his wife, Faye, of Madison Heights; her baby sister, Sherry J. Hall and her husband, Keith, of Lynchburg. Sherry was her best friend, shopping buddy and Atlantic City partner. God blessed Peggy and Barry with three children who adored her; Ken Stephen Keesee and his wife, Carla, Keith Scott Keesee and his wife, Susan and Kristy Keesee Ayers and her husband, Howy. Both of her sons are Virginia State Troopers and her daughter is a RN at UVA Medical Center in the Pediatric ICU. The true loves of her life were her five grandchildren, Will and Sydney Keesee, Holden Ayers, Revely and Slade Keesee. Will, 13, is her first grandchild and her "sports hero". Sydney, 9, who is "full of herself" is the only granddaughter. Holden, 7, is the "Apple of her eye". Revely, 7, is the "spitting image of his DaDa". Slade, 21 months, is the baby and the "rowdiest of the bunch". Grandma's passion was attending the grandchildren's sporting events and being their number 1 fan. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Cumbie Memorial Cemetery at Rustburg Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, October 26, 2009, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Barry and Family,
I was in Radford visiting my sister in law Sunday afternoon when I opened the paper and I was shocked to learn of the passing of Peggy. She and I along with so many worked together at Stuart McGuire/Home Shopping over the years, it was a good working relationship. Peggy was such a joy to be around, she would always make you find the better side of things......she was so proud of all of you even in the early years before grandchildren......I can only imagine how she felt when they came into her and your life.....God be with each of you during this difficult time
