Houston Lee Biggs

Houston Lee Biggs, 82, of Thaxton, Va., passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, June 29, 1927, in Roanoke, Va., a son of the late Henry Houston Biggs and Edna Lee Kelley Biggs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Louise Dooley Biggs; and two daughters, Minnie Handy and Peggy Bolin. He was a retired supervisor with Weblite Corporation. Surviving is his son, Johnny Biggs and wife, Carolyn, of Bedford; three daughters, Kay Goff and husband, Charles, of Bedford, Fay Racek and husband, Mark, of Reston, and Denise Pryor, of Vinton; a son-in-law, Claude Handy, of Vinton; 15 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with the Rev. Ralph Jernigan officiating. Interment will follow in Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and other times at the residence of Kay and Charles Goff, 4255 Wheatland Road, Bedford, Va.
