Malvin Yopp Obituary

Malvin J. Yopp, 69, of Callaway, Va., died Thursday, November 5, 2009, in the wee hours of the morning when the angels of the Lord took him home. Born on September 7, 1940 to the late Charles Noel and Okie Shorter Yopp he was their oldest son. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Christie Yopp, Alice Rodriquez, and Emma Toney. He leaves to cherish his memory, eight sisters, Geraldine Stegall and friend, Percy Hall, of Snow Creek; Joyce Jones, Vicky (Larry) Adams and Darlene Irby, of Elgin, S.C., Mary Broughman, of Bassett, Sarah Swihart, of Ferrum, Barbara Grimes and Diane (George) Wright, of Rocky Mount; five brothers, Wilbert Yopp, of Thompson, Ohio, James, Henry (Donna) and Charles (Rosa) Yopp, of Rocky Mount, and Winston Yopp, of Glade Hill. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends from the Callaway and Bent Mountain areas. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, with the Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
