Randy wa a great credit to our alma mater, to the Air Force, and to our class, USMA 1945. Well done, rest in peace, Randy.

Another Comrade in Arms has made his last flight. The ranks of the Chaumont, France 48th Fighter-Bomber Wing has been depleated once again with the passing of Randy Heard. He was a person that I was glad to call a friend. Randy was also a very good pilot which meant a lot to those that flew with him. He will be missed by many and remembered for who he was. Our sympathy to all the family.

Dearest Charles and Family,
With greatest sympathy, my heart goes out to you that God will grant you peace and comfort, as the memories of your amazing father are shared and remembered. You have been blessed to have such a honorable gentleman for a father (and for such a long lifetime)
. . . he was blessed to have lived such a full and adventurous life, always surrounded by the love, laughter and respect of his talented and gracious children. I'm proud to have known him for such a brief time.
As always, you are lovingly in my thoughts and prayers.

Diane and family, I didn't have the honor of knowing your father, but I thank him from the bottem of my heart, for his service to our country. My prayers are with You.

In Honor of Veteran's Day, and now in memory of Col. Randolph Heard, we fondly remember the annual school tradition of hanging a homemade star in honor of a Veteran.
Our son, John-David, always made a star for his Great Uncle.

God Bless America.

Our prayers are with you.

Charles, Caroline, Diane and Stephen:

It was a beautiful service. I feel privliged to have known your father and to have shared in this very personal celebration of his life. Jackson and Nancy's duet was wonderful as well as the poems that were read. My father was also a pilot in the air force (WWII). He was 5 years older than your father but they were very similar in many of their views on our country, military, etc. Its hard to believe that your father and I first started working together in 1987, how quickly those years have passed. It was an honor to have worked with him until his passing.

Diane and family,

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers will be with you now and in the coming days. I love the pictures you shared. Cherish the wonderful memories you have of your father. I lost my mom a little over a year ago. I remember our days in Roanoke and at the Sheraton, we had so many good times together. I've been in Ohio for almost seven years, with all the snow. We have 10 year old twin girls, April and Anna. It's wonderful!

I am sorry for your loss. Although I only knew Boot, (and your siblings) through your comics, I realize that while a man of resolute convictions, he was capable of profound introspection. I wish I could say this of more individuals. He will be missed.

Truly epitomizing the characteristics of 'the greatest generation,' Col. Heard was a kind and generous man who was adored by his family. I was privileged to have known him as "Dad" and will remember him, his intellect, humor, and movie-star looks, with deepest fondness.
